BARDEJOV FILM:
REFUEL LOWY AND THE TYPHOID RESCUE PLAN

The film, telling the notable story of Refuel Lowy and the Typhoid Rescue Plan is the initiative of Mr. Emil A. Fish: “The film BARDEJOV, is based on a true story in the town of Bardejov during the Holocaust. What happened there and my ongoing support of telling the story of Jewish Heritage in Bardejov has been a lifelong focus of mine, as many of you very well know. The film I produced is a true story about how Refuel Lowy, the head of the Jewish community and a wine maker, meets with the Jewish council to plan an action against the Slovak Hlinka Guard’s orders. The main order required that all unmarried girls in the town must present themselves for work in a shoe factory in the East, with no exception. After Lowy discovers there is no shoe factory and the girls will be taken to Auschwitz, they plan to save the girls. I am very proud of how this film turned out. It is a compelling story, a well-done dramatic feature directed by Danny A. Abeckaser.”
